A major health scare shook the wedding celebrations of Smriti Mandhana, the star of Indian women’s cricket, as both her father and fiancé Palash Muchhal were hospitalised on her wedding day. The emergency forced Team India’s batter to postpone her marriage indefinitely, prioritising her family’s well-being.
Father’s Health in Focus
Smriti Mandhana’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, reportedly experienced left-sided chest pain, prompting an immediate ambulance transfer to a hospital in Sangli, Maharashtra. According to doctors, his cardiac enzymes were elevated, leading to his admission for observation and possible angiography.
Dr. Naman Shah, who is overseeing his treatment, said the condition “may be due to stress,” given the demanding wedding preparations. Mandhana’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, confirmed her deep concern for her father, saying she made the decisive call not to move forward with the ceremony. As Mishra put it: “Smriti has decided that the marriage will be postponed until her father recovers.”
Muchhal Also Taken Ill
In a surprising turn, Smriti’s fiancé, Palash Muchhal, was also admitted to a private hospital. According to NDTV sources, Muchhal was treated for a viral infection and excessive acidity.Thankfully, his condition was described as not serious, and he soon left the hospital after receiving care.
His health scare came just as the couple’s wedding festivities were in full swing, adding to the day’s emotional turmoil.
What’s Next for the Wedding
Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal’s wedding, which was to be held in Sangli, has now been postponed without a new date. The decision was made jointly by the family, with Mandhana emphasizing that her father’s recovery must come before all else.
Friends, teammates, and fans have expressed their concern and support, keeping the cricketer’s family in their thoughts. For now, the focus remains on her father’s health as well as Muchhal’s recovery, with the couple and their loved ones requesting privacy during this difficult time.
